International Transfer Students

We welcome international transfer applicants from universities throughout the United States and all over the world. If you are transferring from an international university, please provide course descriptions in English for each course taken at that institution. In some cases, we may ask you to provide further information about the institution you attend. Additionally, we may refer you to a professional evaluation service for independent assessment of completed academic studies if deemed necessary.

TRANSCRIPTS

Please request that all official transcripts from all colleges and universities you have attended be sent to the Office of Undergraduate Admission. In addition, please submit an official, final high school transcript with date of graduation.

MID-SEMESTER PROGRESS REPORT

This form (found within the Common Application) should be submitted once you have taken midyear exams or completed midterm assignments. If you are currently not enrolled in college courses, this form is not required.

COLLEGE OFFICIAL’S REPORT

This form can be found on the Common Application website and should be used to report grades for courses in which you are currently enrolled.

RECOMMENDATIONS

We require two letters of recommendation, preferably from professors. A reference from an employer or high school teacher is acceptable in lieu of one professor recommendation.

STANDARDIZED TESTS

The SAT or ACT with Writing is required for all transfer applicants who have taken fewer than 10 transferable college courses. These may be sent directly from the testing agency, or indicated on your official high school transcript.

If English is not your primary language, you must also submit official results of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or International English Language Testing Systems exam (IELTS).The TOEFL requirement may be waived for transfer applicants who have completed English Composition I and English Composition II at the university level and have earned a B- or higher in each course.

Confirmation OF FINANCIAL RESOURCES FORM

As a non-U.S. citizen, the Confirmation of Financial Resources Form must be completed to allow you to obtain an F-1 Student Visa. Applicants who do not use this form should provide one of the following:

  • Bank letter from the parent or sponsor's bank, signed by a bank official, verifying the availability of funds. For the amount required, refer to the Confirmation of Financial Resources Form. Also include a signed letter from the parent or the sponsor indicating willingness to pay educational expenses.
  • Parent or sponsor bank statement, as long as the statement is in the parent or sponsor's name verifying the availability of funds. Also include a signed letter from the parent or sponsor indicating willingness to pay educational expenses.

Please note, documents may be sent electronically (photocopies and facsimiles are acceptable).

Since some countries have limits on the amount of money that may be sent to the United States, it is important to inquire about the regulations of your country concerning the transfer of such funds. Our Center for International Students and Scholars can also assist you in preparing your documentation for visa issuance.
